Luke Morris – Planning Application for rear extension – Glenfield, Leicester

Architecture, Architectural

Luke Morris approached us to design and get planning approval for a large rear extension.

This was a creatively challenging project, one reason being that the extension stretched along a large portion of the rear of the property, combining a snug area, utility room, kitchen and dining area into a larger area. This area was to provide a lounge and kitchen/dining area.

Another requirement of the brief was to include a large set of glass sliding doors across the back, in order to establish a stronger connection to the beautiful back garden.

All these details added up to making the steel work fairly complex, so The Design Social was also asked to produce a design for a building regulation submission along with the structural calculations that were required.

The Design Social developed a design to meet all these criteria, and liaised with the local council to overcome any issues that came up.

We were able to get planning approval for the project and the client is currently getting quotes from various builders to put the project into construction.
