Sue Roberts approached The Design Social with plans to establish a new cat boarding business by constructing a purpose-designed cattery at her property in Desborough, near Kettering. The project required a new building together with the relevant planning permission and commercial use requirements.
We worked with Sue to develop the design for the new cattery, taking account of how the building would be used and the relevant requirements for the proposed business. Sue was also keen to explore a more environmentally considered approach to the construction, including the use of ground screws rather than a large concrete slab.
As part of the design process, we researched the proposed construction approach and developed the information required for the planning application. We also dealt with the relevant commercial planning use for the site and liaised with the local authority as the application progressed.
Planning permission was subsequently granted for the new cattery, allowing Sue to move forward with the construction of the building and her plans for the new business.
