The Design Social worked alongside The Hub to develop the concept and detailed exhibition design for The Play’s The Thing, a permanent exhibition at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Working within a listed building presented a number of technical considerations, so the design needed to respond carefully to the existing theatre while meeting the practical requirements of a permanent exhibition.

Our involvement continued through the development of the design and into manufacture and installation, requiring close coordination between the client, specialist manufacturing companies and the on-site installation team. Clear communication between everyone involved was particularly important as the design progressed from the original concept through to the finished exhibition.
