Ann Moran approached The Design Social for help with proposed alterations to her 300-year-old cottage in Wall Heath, Kingswinford. The property is locally listed by Dudley Council, so the age and character of the building needed to be carefully considered as part of the planning process.

The proposed work involved changes to the existing layout and improvements to the natural light within the property. We surveyed the building and developed drawings and design proposals that addressed Ann’s requirements while taking account of the character and existing features of the cottage.

We then prepared the information required for the planning application and liaised with the local planning authority as it progressed, responding to requests for additional information where required. Planning approval was subsequently granted for the proposed alterations, allowing the project to move forward to the next stage.
