Paul Bland approached The Design Social for help with a planning application for his sixteenth-century listed thatched cottage in Thornborough, Buckingham. The property is within a conservation area, so the proposed work needed to take account of its historic character and setting.
The proposals included applying insulated lime render to the external walls to help improve the thermal performance of the property, together with the installation of French drains to help reduce damp.
We prepared the drawings and supporting documentation required for the planning application, including a heritage statement. The application was subsequently approved, allowing the proposed work to move forward.
