What We Do
A successful interior needs to work for the people using it as well as look right. We start by understanding how the space will be used, what needs to change and any practical or technical requirements that will influence the design.
Projects can involve anything from reworking a residential floor layout to developing commercial interiors, exhibitions and museum spaces. Depending on the brief, this may include layouts, finish and colour schemes, 2D and 3D CAD work, design coordination and detailed information for contractors and suppliers.
Larger or more technical projects can also involve Building Regulations, structural calculations and coordination with other specialists. This allows the design and technical requirements to be considered together rather than treated as separate parts of the project.
Internal Layouts and Open-Plan Living
Many of our residential interior projects start with the layout rather than the finishes. Space planning looks at how rooms connect, where the kitchen, dining and living areas sit, and how people move through the house, before decisions about materials and colours are made.
Leicester
Open-plan kitchen and dining
Julie Mitchell wanted her kitchen and dining room combined into one larger space. We surveyed the house, explored internal layout options with her, and coordinated the structural calculations and steelwork for the new opening, together with the Building Regulations information.
Nuneaton
Ground-floor remodel
Behzad Abedi wanted a more open and spacious ground floor. We reworked the internal layout, opening up a substantial section of the ground floor, and coordinated the structural calculations alongside the design so the layout and structure were resolved together.
Layout changes are often part of a wider project. Removing a load-bearing wall usually needs structural calculations and Building Regulations approval, and a new layout may be planned alongside an extension or conversion. In Broughton Astley, a garage conversion was designed together with alterations upstairs. In Market Harborough, the internal layout was developed with a full-width rear extension.
